(Dallas, January 2018; source: CultureHype) – The Deep Ellum Arts Festivalis proud to celebrate its 24th anniversary this year from Friday, April 6 through Sunday, April 8. Voted “Best Festival in Dallas” by local polls and ranked by participating artists among the top 50 arts festivals in the nation, the free to attend festival, which annually occurs on the first full weekend of April will start at Malcolm X and end at Exposition Hall outside the iconic Sons of Hermann Hall. The festival opens for lunch on Friday at 11 a.m., offering downtown office workers a special opportunity to preview the festival during their lunch break.
Attendees can enjoy a wide array of tasty local cuisines, beer, wine and cocktails while experiencing more than 200 juried fine artists. All artists will be displaying and selling their works, many of which will be created live. The exquisite collections showcased will include paintings, sculptures, murals, jewelry and other original works of art. The adult-oriented three-day festival, which will span six city blocks of Main Street in Dallas’ Entertainment District, and in addition to fine art, will feature over 150 bands, solo musicians, poets and more performing their own original material only. These creatives are a mix of local, national and international talent, representing a variety of genres and performing from one of our 4 outdoor stages, or one of our several performance areas that are on street level with our audiences. We are also teaming up once again with the iconic Sons of Hermann Hall who are programming two indoor stages with some of their favorites.
The 2018 Deep Ellum Artists’ Village boasts a large gallery-style pavilion featuring the finest art Dallas has to offer. Working directly with local fine art galleries, including Kettle Art, WAAS, Ash Studios and Continental Gin, this show promises highlight the very best of Deep Ellum at the Deep Ellum Arts Festival.
Situated at the corner of Main and Malcolm X, the Village also hosts the Deep Ellum Artists’ Stage. Over 30 local bands are programmed to play the three day festival. While area talent is spread liberally across all six stages, this stage requires every single musical act to be an active player in 75226. Here, you’ll find neighborhood music lovers standing at the front of the stage.
Stay tuned for information – various other new creative enhancements are in store for this year’s Festival. The annual Deep Ellum Pet Parade will begin Sunday, April 9 at noon.
