24octAll Day04janFree "Mayhem on the Interurban" Exhibit at Interurban Railway Museum

Event Details

From October 24, 2018 to January 4, 2019 the Interurban Railway Museum in Downtown Plano will display “Mayhem on the Interurban”, a new temporary exhibit exploring the chaotic aspects of the Texas Electric Railway’s history.

When examining the past some tend to romanticize history and overlook the more grim realities. “Mayhem on the Interurban” challenges that instinct and surveys the macabre side of the interurban railway’s history in Texas. The progress and prosperity came with unpredictable consequences and two types of chaos reigned – accidental and intentional. From robberies to wrecks to fatalities in the Plano substation, this exhibit takes a closer look at disasters and misdeeds on the interurban lines.

The Interurban Railway Museum is open 10am-2pm Monday through Friday, and 1pm-5pm on Saturdays. Admission is always free. Updates and announcements can be accessed through our website: interurbanrailwaymuseum.org.
